The company name is made up of the first name of one of the original partners ‘Gordon’ and the last name of the other partner ‘Smith’. Only the ‘Smith’ part of the partnership remains now; in the shape of John Smith assisted by his wife Linda Smith.
John Smith is a remarkable luthier and Gordon-Smith Guitars are fine examples of his craftsmanship. They are attractive, solidly built, practical, well designed, yet simple and extremely playable. Yet they are still reasonably priced for working musicians.
